Dear Friends and Fellow Writers,

I'm excited to announce that I've been updating my Resources Page lately.  Please check it out! There's a whole new section on Flash Fiction and a bit for Poetry, as well.  I will be adding more as I'm able.

If you know of a resource that should be included, let me know.  You can reply here or send an email to -- robyncorum@aol.com

Here's my poetry offering of the day:

A Serpent's Tongue

A serpent’s tongue,

a wasp’s cruel sting,
a beastly wind
in fresh new Spring;
a mad dog’s growl,
a smut-filled flue:
these all remind
me oft, of you.

A bear’s sharp claws,
coyote’s teeth,
a frog’s old warts,
a rocky reef;
Thunderstorms
that scold and shoo
these all remind
me oft, of you.

You’ve left your mark,
you’ve made your stand,
tattooed me with
your evil brand.
My hope is gone,
my life is through:
and all because
I once loved you…

DEAR FRIEND:

Soft and sweet and comfortable;
you're one of my best friends.
You offer peace and joy and rest;
my troubles, you suspend.

My children love to see you,
they light up when you're near.
We huddle close together
to chase away their fear.

My doggie jumps to kiss you,
the moment you appear.
If he loves me best--or you--
isn't quite so clear.

You take us on enchanted trips,
where nothing can compare…
It makes my heart rise up in joy
to ever see you there.

Soft and sweet and comfortable;
you're one of my best friends.
I love my bed and its so true...
 can't wait to get back in!

This month (July) celebrates National 'Cheer Up the Lonely' Day.  What a great idea!  Here is the poem I wrote to honor this occasion:

Cheer Up the Lonely

Cheer up the lonely,
offer them hope.
You may just become
their reason to cope.

Offer them love and
a hand to seek out
when swamped by waves of
fear, grief and doubt

Liven their days with
bright bits of aid,
something they’re needing
when doubt pervades.

Cheer up the lonely…
remember it’s true--
what you give to others,
they’ll give to you.

***

Wherever you are and whatever you're doing, I hope that you aren't lonely.  If so, here's someone who cares.  Sending hugs to all!
